CE pathway

The registration fee for the CE pathway is:

    • EMT: $180
    • AEMT: $180
    • Paramedic Part A: $180
    • Paramedic Part B: $180
    • Paramedic Part C: $180

If the course is held on the campus of Wake Tech, there is an $18 campus access fee.

 

There are card fees per course as follows:

    • EMT: CPR $4
    • Paramedic Part C: PHTLS & AMLS $15 each and ACLS & PALS $7 each

Testing/Lab Requirements

The student is required to purchase the Wake Tech EMS Uniform in order to attend class, labs, and clinical assignments.

 

Platinum Planner and EMS Testing are the official platforms utilized for scheduling, skills tracking, and testing. The student should be prepared to purchase this on the first day of class.

 

The cost for the packages are as follows:

EMS Testing

      • EMT package: $49.00
      • AEMT package: $66.50
      • Paramedic package: $97.50

Platinum Planner

      • EMT package: $30.00
      • AEMT package: $56.50
      • Paramedic package: $85.00

EMS Field & Clinical Requirements

Wake Tech does not guarantee the admission of any student to a field/clinical site. A student’s acceptance, participation, and continuation at any field/clinical site are subject to the approval and consent of the field/clinical site. Students must be able to attend and progress in the assigned field/clinical area for each course. Alternate assignments will not be made because of inability to progress in an assigned field/clinical setting.  

 

Medical Documents and Background Check:

    • Prior to the start of the field/clinical rotation, students must complete a drug screen analysis, obtain a copy of their criminal background record, and submit required medical documentation as directed by the approved vendor, CastleBranch.
    • The student will be responsible for a fee of $121.00 for the package that includes the background check, drug screen analysis, and medical document manager.
    • To access the ordering portal, students will need to go to click HERE. Follow the instructions for order placement.  This portal website contains a “Frequently Asked Questions” section as well as a “Contact Us” section if the students have any questions. Students are REQUIRED to use their Wake Tech mail address in the Personal Information profile when created.

Required documents for the program include the following:

    • COVID vaccine or waiver
    • Hepatitis B vaccine or waiver
    • MMR – Measles, Mumps, Rubella
    • Varicella – Chicken Pox
    • TDAP – Pertussis
    • Influenza – seasonal flu injection (not nasal mist)
    • Tuberculosis Screening
    • TB Risk Assessment & Attestation Form (annually)
    • Health insurance card
    • Certification of health insurance coverage form
    • Wake Tech Physical Exam Form
    • Background Check Consent Form
    • EMS Program Technical Standards 

 

Length for the clinical education component is 48 hours for the EMT level. This can be conducted in the hospital or with an EMS agency or fire department.

 

Length for the hospital clinical educational component is 48 hours for the AEMT level and 144 hours for the Paramedic level.

 

Length for the field internship component is 48 hours for the AEMT level and 336 hours for the Paramedic level.

 

Clinical and field internship education hours may be adjusted based on the time required by the student to obtain competency in each of the skills required.  All hospital clinical education must be conducted under the direct supervision of approved preceptors.  All field internship hours must be conducted under the direct supervision of approved field training officers or field clinical instructors. Additional hours may be added at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator.

 

The student must complete 100% of the hours required. For courses that utilize an assigned mentor, the student will need to obtain a Statement of Completion from their mentor once they successfully complete the field-clinical section of the program. A student must perform the required number of skills stated in the curriculum for each level of competency.

Uniforms

Uniforms can be ordered by clicking HERE. Orders are not processed until payment is made. Each class has a specific deadline for ordering uniform items to ensure they arrive in a timely manner.

 

Required uniform items include the following:   

  • 2 – polo shirts ($30/each)
  • 2 – pairs of navy blue EMS pants ($60/each)
  • 1 – black belt ($15/each)

Optional uniform items include the following:   

  • hat ($21/each)
  • pullover ($65/each)
  • jacket ($65/each)
  • boots ($150/pair)

Polo shirts, pants, and belt MUST be ordered through the contracted vendor. Black boots with composite toe are required, however, students can order them through their preferred vendor. Outerwear is not required but wearing something over the uniform during clinical rotations that is not approved is prohibited. The only hat that can be worn is the Wake Tech EMS hat which can only be ordered through the contracted vendor.
