David Grovdahl is currently the EMS Director of Cumberland County EMS, part of the Cape Fear Valley Health System’s Mobile Integrated Health. He oversees the 74,000 call volume 911 operations for CCEMS, support services for all MIH and the health system’s Community Paramedic Program as well as the fleet department for the health system. David is a 23-year Paramedic and has worked in all facets of ground and flight EMS in Texas, Wyoming, Oklahoma and North Carolina. He has experience as a firefighter and law enforcement officer and has multiple certifications and experience in EMS Special Operations and large scale incident command. David has been awarded the JEMS EMS-10 Innovator Award and was Director when his system was awarded the Dick Ferneau/EMSWorld National Paid EMS System of the Year. David is a graduate from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Business Management. David is a regular speaker at state and national conferences and studies the various models of EMS system design and deployment. David is married with 2 children and enjoys following his daughter through her college adventures in zoological veterinary medicine and college softball. When not at EMS, he can usually be found umpiring at softball games and tournaments.
