EMS Wizard is a subsidiary of Meducate, Inc. and was founded by John C. Wilson in 2022 to bring EMS management and leadership education to the North Carolina EMS systems.
The circle of wizards that comprise the executive team have over 75 years of experience between them. Their collective background includes volunteer, career, private, local government, community college, provider, officer, manager, educator, and administrator. EMS Wizard was established to bring quality EMS education to the existing gaps that currently reside in North Carolina.
How we help
EMS Wizard is home to the North Carolina EMS Officer Program, NC EMS Leadership Academy, and Pedestal.
The EMS Officer series was developed in 2017 and over the years, has morphed into the premiere platform for EMS providers looking to add to their background, the fundamental aspects of EMS leadership and management.
The NC EMS Leadership Academy was launched in 2023 and has created a culture of networking and growth among aspiring and current EMS leaders.
EMS Wizard now offers premiere online and hybrid education opportunities through Pedestal. Some of these courses include EMS Instructor Methodology, EMS Refresher Plus, and Critical Care Elite.
EMS Wizard also provides initial training and instructor monitoring for NAEMT programs such as PHTLS, AMLS, AHDR, PEPL, EMS Safety, and EVOS.

EMS Wizard Pedestal
The NC Refresher Plus courses offer a comprehensive hybrid learning experience for EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics seeking recertification. Delivered by the expert EMS Wizard team, these courses combine engaging online presentations with regional in-person skill labs, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
Course lengths are as follows:
– EMT: 80 hours
– AEMT: 100 hours
– Paramedic: 120 hours
Meeting all national registry recertification guidelines, the NC Refresher Plus courses also include certifications in CPR and PHTLS in the EMT version, CPR, PHTLS, and AMLS in the AEMT version, and ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and AMLS in the paramedic version upon successful completion of the regional lab date AT NO EXTRA COST. Skill labs are conveniently offered at various sites across North Carolina, including Northeast, Southeast, Central, Northwest, and Southwest locations.
